Our team has played pivotal roles in shaping national health policies, advancing medical device innovation, and delivering critical care across diverse regions, including Canada’s remote North, East Africa, and the Pacific. 

Dr. Harvey Hawes in

CEO/CMO

Dr. Harvey Hawes brings 20 years of experience as a trauma surgeon, innovator, and health systems development in diverse regions, including Canada’s north, Fiji, and East Africa. He is currently serving as Provincial Trauma Medical Director for British Columbia.

As former Director of ICChange, Harvey led initiatives to secure funding and support for system improvements, notably from Grand Challenges Canada.

He played a pivotal role in developing Kenya’s National Trauma and Injury Framework and Injury Policy.

Fatima Ahmed in

COO

Fatima Ahmed has 15 years of experience in biomedical research, operations management, and program execution across Canada, the US, and Pakistan.

She has led multimillion-dollar, multi-year projects at AbCellera Biologics for the discovery of best-in-class therapeutics for infectious disease targets.

She brings exceptional cross-disciplinary capacity building expertise to enhance capabilities within organizations, enabling the rapid growth and scale of teams and programs.

Ben Brzezynski in

CBO

Ben Brzezynski has been involved in several early stage health technology companies from ideation to commercialization for 13 years.

Ben has held commercial leadership roles with Canadian, US and UK companies, focusing heavily on applications of artificial intelligence in medicine, digital biomarker discovery, digital therapeutics and advancements in diagnostic imaging.

He has executed contracts with governments, not-for-profits, militaries, and leading medical technology and pharmaceutical companies.

Martin Gurbin in

CS&GA

Martin Gurbin brings knowledge and relationships spanning a 25-year career in health systems, health innovation, health tech startups and government relations across international jurisdictions.

He has facilitated collaborations between technology innovators, investors, hospitals, providers, and government agencies to strengthen health innovation ecosystems, and has guided the development of over 100 emerging digital health and medical device companies.

Fedja Mulabdic in

Head of Engineering

Fedja Mulabdic is a medical device engineer with 25 years of experience in developing and manufacturing orthopedic, endovascular, and emergency medicine devices.

A recognized expert, he has led advancements and contributed to multiple device innovations, including co-inventing the Y-lock tracheal stent system to improve airway management.

Fedja is passionate about expanding global healthcare access, and focuses on designing affordable medical technologies to enhance care in low-to-middle-income countries.

Gabriel Castanon in

Head of Product

Gabe brings 13 years entrepreneurship and product management and development experience in hardware and software, with a focus on 3D technologies.

He is leading the product and software development at Building Bloc.

Dr. Hasnaa Fatehi in

Regulatory Advisory

Hasnaa Fatehi, PhD, is the founder and CEO of QARALOGIC and a seasoned regulatory strategist with over 20 years of experience in the MedTech sector. 

She has a strong track record of driving high-stakes projects to completion under tight deadlines and through complex organizational transitions.

Her work is rooted in a passion for pragmatic, evidence-driven strategies that accelerate market access, eliminate systemic inefficiencies, and reduce the overall cost burden of regulatory and quality operations.

Maj. (ret) George Jager in

Military Supply Chain Advisory

Major (retired) George Jager was a logistics officer for 35 years in the Canadian Armed Forces.

He has experience in leadership, training foreign forces, logistics course creation and design, National level force development and future Army force development.

George brings extensive knowledge and experience in operational mission planning, logistics planning and training, dealing with foreign armies.
